This analysis assessed the reproducibility of the biochemical testing and the value of confirmatory testing that includes an OGTT when both fasting glucose and hemoglobin A1c criteria are in the prediabetes range. Combined measurement of fasting glucose and hemoglobin A1c is a reliable and reproducible measure to identify the presence of dysglycemia among people at high risk for diabetes. This work provides a prediction model to help clinicians decide whether an oral glucose tolerance test will provide value in detecting diabetes based on the 2-hour post glucose challenge criterion.
