Understanding how race may influence the association between hemoglobin A1c and glycemia can improve diabetes screening. We sought to determine whether, for a given hemoglobin A1c level, glucose levels during an OGTT differed by race.
We found that for a given hemoglobin A1c level, Area-Under-the-Curve for glucose was lower in Black vs White participants.
