Observational study to examine the association between vitamin D status and future diabetes risk in adults with prediabetes is funded
Dr. Pittas and colleagues receive funding by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) and the Office of Dietary Supplements (ODS) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to assess the longitudinal association between vitamin D status – assessed by blood level of 25-hydroxyvitamin D – and risk of developing diabetes among adults at high risk for diabetes. The observational case-cohort study will be conducted among participants within the placebo (N=1022) and lifestyle (N=1017) arms of the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP), a cohort of U.S. adults at high risk for diabetes.
