June 24, 2016- CBS 4 Denver Colorado Study Looking At Link Between Vitamin D, Diabetes

Site Principal Investigator – Dr. Neda Rasouli, MD | Dr. Rasouli received her MD degree from Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Iran. Her internal medicine residency training was at Michigan State University, Lansing, MI and she completed her endocrinology fellowship at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Little Rock, AR, in 2002. Dr. Rasouli is a physician and a translational researcher at the University of Colorado and Eastern Colorado Veterans Health Care System. Dr. Rasouli has special interest in the management and treatment of patients with diabetes and metabolic disorders associated with obesity. Her research interests include studying the pathophysiology of insulin resistance particularly molecular mechanisms involved in adipose tissue inflammation and lipotoxicity associated with obesity and insulin resistance. In addition, Dr. Rasouli is leading several clinical trials to investigate novel therapeutic interventions in the management of diabetes.

Site Coordinator – Abtin Kiany, MD | Abtin received his MD degree from Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, Tehran, Iran. He worked as a family physician in Iran for 14 months. Prior to this, he was a research scholar at Duke University School of Medicine in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science.  He is currently the Clinical Research Coordinator for the D2d study in Dr. Rasouli’s research group.

Site Coordinator – Victoria Haggett, MS | Tori received her Master of Science degree from the University of Delaware, with a focus in kinesiology and applied physiology. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in health and exercise science from Furman University. In 2015, Tori joined the Division of Endocrinology at the University of Colorado where she currently serves as a Professional Research Assistant and Coordinator in Dr. Rasouli’s clinical trials program.
